Voedselpark Amsterdam & Cinema De Vlugt presenteren: Première documentaire Het Goud van Amsterdam
Dit is een korte documentaire gemaakt door kunstenares Esra Sakir over de impact van het werken met lokale klei op de inwoners van een grote stad. In onze moderne levensstijl zijn we het contact met de bodem en de bijbehorende kennis kwijtgeraakt. De huidige tijd, gekenmerkt door zorgen over het milieu en klimaatverandering,, dwingt ons ertoe opnieuw verbinding te maken met de aarde. Door de zintuiglijke ervaring van het werken met lokale klei kunnen we onze geest resetten en ruimte creëren voor nieuwe denkwijzen.
Lutkemeerpolder in Amsterdam is de laatste vruchtbare zeeklei van de stad en de documentaire benadrukt het belang ervan voor het publiek. Dit gebied, met zijn unieke klei, is het laatste in zijn soort in de stad. De Voedselparkbeweging en de lokale agrarische activiteit Boterbloem streven ernaar dit land toegankelijk te houden voor openbaar gebruik en sociale buurtactiviteiten.
In het voorjaar van 2024 had Esra de kans om zich diepgaand met de bodem bezig te houden via kleiworkshops die zowel ter plaatse als in verschillende delen van Amsterdam werden georganiseerd. Als artist-in-residence bij de Waag Future Lab en Voedselpark heeft ze de diepe verbinding ervaren die het werken met klei biedt. Deze film presenteert de persoonlijke en oprechte ervaringen van de Amsterdam Clay Lovers Group terwijl we deelnamen aan handgemaakte kleiworkshops, klei oogstten en verwerkten. We hopen deze unieke kans met anderen te blijven delen.
Tijdens de vertoning zullen keramiekwerken te zien zijn als resultaat van de laatste workshops.

This is a short documentary made by artist Esra Sakir about the impact of working with local clay on the residents of a major city. In our modern lifestyles, we have lost touch with the soil and the knowledge associated with it. The current times, marked by environmental concerns and climate change, urge us to reconnect with the earth. Through the sensory experience of working with local clay, we can reset our minds and create space for new ways of thinking.
Lutkemeerpolder in Amsterdam is the city’s last fertile seaclay and the documentary highlights its importance to the public. This area, with its unique clay, is the last of its kind in the city. The Voedselpark movement and the local agricultural activity Boterbloem aim to keep this land accessible for public use and social neighborhood activities.
In the spring of 2024, Esra had the opportunity to deeply engage with the soil through clay workshops organized both on-site and in various parts of Amsterdam. As an artist-in-residence at the Waag Future Lab and Voedselpark, she experienced the profound connection that working with clay offers. This film presents the personal and heartfelt experiences of the Amsterdam Clay Lovers Group as we participated in hand-built clay workshops, harvested clay, and processed it. We hope to continue sharing this unique opportunity with others.
During the screening, ceramics created in the latest workshops will be exhibited.
